KAMPALA (HOL) – Uganda Airlines will soon be flying to Hargeisa capital of Somaliland as the newly revamped airlines expands its passenger routes.

According to Uganda’s state media New Vision, Uganda Airlines plans to add Hargeisa, the capital of the Republic of Somaliland to its new routes this year.
The airline will start new routes to Dubai, London, Guangzhou, and Mumbai, New Vision reported. The introduction of new routes follows the acquisition of two Airbus A330neo by the national carrier last month.

The entry of Uganda Airlines in Hargeisa adds to increasing international interest in the break-away region which has upped its diplomatic push for statehood in recent months.

Kenya announced last month its national carrier-Kenya Airways will start direct flights to Somaliland in March.

This followed a high profile meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Somaliland President Muse Bihi in Nairobi.
